Take me out to the worst ballgame ever...for FREE!
Ever since Rhett & I became slightly obsessed with the Houston Astros, we have dreamed of sitting behind home plate at Minute Maid Park. Well, last night our dream became a reality! I answered the phone around 5pm at work yesterday & it was Rhett. Since he never calls me directly at work, my first thought was that there had been an emergency. Much to my surprise, he told me that our friends Andre & Gina had 4 tickets to the game & wanted to know if we'd go. I was tired & it was Monday, so I didn't jump on it right away...until Rhett told me that they were in section 119, row 18 RIGHT BEHIND HOME PLATE & Andre had gotten them for FREE from his work! Oh, I was all over that! I was so excited, I could barely contain myself! When we finally got there & took our seats, we were in heaven! These were the best seats in the house! Well, the best seats we could ever get...George & Barbara Bush have the actual best seats in the house in row 1, but Rhett is not a former President & I'm not a former first lady! So yeah, there we were sitting among other lucky fans & MLB scouts! My only regret is that we didn't bring our camera, so the only proof I have that we were actually in these awesome seats is the tickets. The game was going great! We took the lead before the 7th inning stretch (3-2), and I got a delicious ice cream sundae in a mini Astros helmet...the red one! (I swear they give you more ice cream if you're sitting in the good seats!) Then came the 9th inning. Yes, the story is very exciting until this point...when our closing pitcher lost the game for us by giving up 6 earned runs on 5 hits, including 2 home runs. They pulled him after only getting 1 batter out...and the next pitcher gives up an "in the park" home run. Geez. It couldn't get any worse at that point. We ended up losing 9-3. But hey, we had a great view of the melt-down...and I still love my 'stros!

Sounds really fun...except for the loosing part! hahaha! :) I haven't been to an Astros game in a couple years now I guess. We need friends with free ticketS!!! ;)
How cool! I've never been to a baseball game, but I've heard they are a lot more fun in real life! :) Glad you had that opportunity, and sorry you forgot your camera! :)
Now you need to go to an NHL game, THAT is intense! :)
