Cooking Club

I can't believe I am actually doing this, but I am participating in a "Cook Through a Book" cooking club. If you know me, you know that I DON'T COOK...so this should be interesting. Rhett loves to cook and I actually like to clean, so he's the cook...and I do the dishes! However, since I am a stay-at-home mom now, I am going to be doing more of the cooking. I thought this might be a good thing to do, and hopefully a fun cooking experience. Basically, I am forcing myself to learn how to cook. Rhett will still be doing some cooking because he actually likes it...I have been really spoiled with delicious home-cooked meals since marrying Rhett! I guess it is my turn to return the favor.

Anyway, a friend of mine from Sunday school (along with a friend of hers) started this club after watching that movie "Julie and Julia" that recently came out in theaters. A lot of girls from my Sunday school class are participating, so it should be fun to do this along with them. I think we are doing about 2 recipes each week and then we will get together every 4 to 6 weeks for a potluck. Each person will bring a dish from the book and we will all try everything out and discuss recipes. On top of that, we will also have a blog set up where people can post about their cooking experiences and suggestions. I have never done anything like this, so it should be interesting!

The book we are cooking from is "The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook" by Ina Garten. I will hopefully do some posts here about my cooking adventures, so stay tuned!
