We celebrated Caleb's 2nd birthday on Saturday, August 13th! My original plan was to have the party early on July 23rd because we were thinking that Aubrey would be born close to Caleb's actual birthday on August 14th. I printed and mailed out the invitations and everything.....and then got put on bedrest on July 5th. SO, since we were playing the "when will Aubrey be born?" waiting game for most of July, I decided to postpone the party until Aubrey was born and we knew when we could safely celebrate! After Aubrey was born, we decided we'd go ahead with his party on his birthday weekend...only I just did e-vites the second time around and did not re-print the paper invitations. I also had to scramble and finish up the decorations and we opted to go simple on the food and do Chick-fil-a nuggets and snacks. The day before, Haylee came over and helped me finish up some of the decorating. I think everything turned out great and we had a fun time celebrating our sweet boy with friends and family! This year we just invited our immediate family and a few of Caleb's friends around his age (and their parents, of course). Here are some pictures of Caleb's special day!
* I took an easier route this year and instead of making/designing my own decorations, I ordered a printable party package from an Etsy store,
Parties By Hardie. She sent me the PDF file and I just printed everything I needed and cut it all out. It was still a little bit of work but saved me the time of having to come up with designs myself! The package came with TONS of printables - I don't even think I used half of it.
I bought these wooden trains from Hobby Lobby and painted them - super easy!
Aubrey was just 2 weeks old!
This gift from Uncle Mark and Aunt Megan was a huge hit - a Home Depot bag with some wood building kits and a HD apron!
We got him some new Home Depot brand tools - a circular saw, drill, nail gun, and tool box with an assortment of screwdrivers, etc.
He loved it when everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to him! He was singing it to himself for days after!
Classic finger-in-the-nose picture...
When it came time to blow out the candle, he leaned forward and just barely blew on it. I don't think he actually knew what was going on, but it was cute!
