Our sweet girl turned 5 months old on 12/29! I just keep thinking...only one more month until I have to start making baby food again - ha! I can't believe she's already been in our family for 5 months. She is SO sweet and such a good baby. She smiles all the time. I like to think she is a mama's girl (that's what I'm working towards since Caleb worships Rhett), but she also loves her daddy and her brother. For the most part, Caleb is still in his own little world and doesn't pay her too much attention. I wonder what goes through his little mind. I mean, she's been here for 5 months and he still mostly acts like she is not even here. He does like to lay on the activity mat with her and he likes to stack her toys on top of her belly - he thinks that is funny (and his idea of "sharing"). Here are some other things about our little girl....
* She weighs right around 13 lbs according to the scale at home. (yes, we still have it but it's going back soon) She is still our little petite girl. I don't suspect that will change any time soon. I don't know her length.
* She is still in size 2 diapers. I just started putting her in some 6 month Carter's onesies and pants. Her 3 months onesies will still fit, but the 3 month pants are too short...more like capris! She is also wearing 6 month sleepers now b/c the 3 month ones are so short she can barely stretch her legs out, ha! That's how you know it's time to move up a size in the footie pj's! I have no idea what her shoe size is b/c I never put her in shoes, but I think she has small feet.
* She's eating 6 times a day still and we're on a pretty good schedule. She still will only take 4 oz per feeding for the most part. I really don't know why she won't take much more. She should really be taking 5-6 ounces, but I cannot force her to eat. Sometimes she will take 5 oz. I've just started pumping and bottle feeding her for most feedings because she is just not interested in nursing. She gets whatever I can pump and formula for the rest.
* She is a good sleeper! We rarely have any sleep problems with her. Since she sucks her thumb, she soothes herself very well and puts herself to sleep. I am a little nervous about oneday having to break the thumb sucking, but admit that it is so nice that she can put herself to sleep!
* Her favorite "toys" right now are her hands! Oh my, the girl loves her hands. She chews on them, clasps them, and stares at them for what seems like the entire day. She has not found her feet yet.
* Besides her hands, she also loves her monkey toy, rattle, tiny squeeky bear, and carseat cow.
* She does great in her carseat and she is still so easy to take places.
* She is very laid back! Caleb was too.
* She can roll from tummy to back, but she rarely does. She has also rolled from back to tummy a few times, but that's it. If you put her on her back, she stays there. If you put her on her tummy, she stays there. She doesn't seem to be in any hurry to be rolling or moving anywhere. I'm thinking we're going to have another late crawler/walker, but we will see!
* She loves to be held and to sit in your lap. I don't hold her all day, but if I did, I don't think she'd mind at all.
* She loves to be standing up. We are working on sitting, but so far that is not happening.
* She still has a flat spot across the back of her head. I am worried she's going to end up wearing one of those helmets to help correct it. I have instituted a "no back" policy during the day! If she is not sleeping, she has to be on her tummy or in her jumperoo....or sitting up in someone's lap so that her head is not touching anything. I am very serious about this policy! :-) We will see what the doc says at her 6 month appointment.
* She smiles all the time, but doesn't laugh a whole lot yet. She giggles, but so far no all-out laughing. It does not take much to make her smile, though!
* She celebrated her very first Christmas and went out of state (to Louisiana) for the first time for Christmas with Rhett's family.
Now for some pics!
Seriously - could that face be any sweeter?!
She fell asleep on her activity mat under the Christmas tree...
First time in the jumperoo! She was not sure what to think.
Caleb likes to lay on the activity mat with her.
He can be really sweet to her when he wants to be.
This is one of my favorite pictures of them! Caleb reached over towards Aubrey and she grabbed onto his finger. He thought that was hilarious and I caught him in mid-laugh! Love it!
Couldn't you just pinch those cheeks? :-)
Ok, mom! Enough with the pictures!
Kisses from Daddy
