Five Months Old!

Our sweet boy turned 5 months old last Thursday! Here is what he's been up to this past month...

Celebrating his first Christmas!

Playing with one of his favorite toys...

Getting in more tummy time. He got these soft blocks for Christmas and he really likes them.

Playing in his room... Doesn't he have the sweetest face?

Showing more interest in his puppies. Not sure they really know what to think about him!

Of the three dogs, Rio is definitely the most interested in him. If you know Rio, this comes as no surprise! He is interested in everything! Rio likes to lay next to him on the floor.

Rio is already wanting Caleb to play ball with him!

Tag is also showing some interest in him, surprisingly. But of course, as soon as Caleb makes a move towards him, he is outta there! Caleb is starting to grab at his ears, so this worries me a little. Tag does NOT like his ears to be pulled and he will let you know!

Trying so hard to roll over, but just can't quite make it!

Putting everything in his mouth!

and smiling all the time!

Sitting and eating in his big boy high chair...

Grinning at mom...

Blowing spit bubbles...

and growing up so fast!

At 5 months, Caleb...

...weighs 13 lbs 11 oz! (weighed on 1/18, so just a few days over 5 months). He is FINALLY back on the growth charts for weight, just under the 10th percentile!! Praise God! He is finally getting a little meat on his thighs!

...is laughing more and more every day. Things he currently finds the most funny include: fake laughing (still), pretending to eat his hand, and tossing him up in the air (sometimes...other times, this actually kinda freaks him out)

...is STILL only napping in his bouncy seat, but I am preparing to attempt getting him to nap in his crib. I have to talk myself into doing it...and sticking to it. I know he will resist and cry his eyes out, and I am weak, so it is going to be hard. We'll see!

...is still nursing every 3-4 hours during the day.

...is taking about 6 extra ounces of formula mixed with 1 tsp rice cereal/ounce each day in addition to breastfeeding.

...is eating oatmeal and prunes from a spoon and he caught on pretty quick. He hasn't figured out to open his mouth really wide yet, but when you put the spoon in front of his face he starts to open and close his mouth - it is so cute!

...is sleeping through the night on MOST nights!!! He started this within a week of starting him on cereal and supplemental formula...guess the extra calories are what he needed! He is still going to bed between 10-10:30pm after his last feeding and now will go 8-10 hours before feeding again. We actually have been having to wake him up to eat around 7am most mornings! (except for two nights ago - he did not go to sleep until about 4am! that was an insane night and we don't know what was wrong with him...)

...is trying to roll over onto his tummy still and is SO close, but he gets stuck halfway!

...has discovered how to gurgle his spit and does it all the time now...little boys!

...went out of state for the first time (to Lousiana), to Mimi and G-Dad's for Christmas.

...celebrated his first Christmas and New Year's. Over the Christmas holiday, he got to meet his Uncle Josh, Uncle Travis, Aunt Holly, and cousin Cal for the first time!

...was sick for the first time. Poor little guy was congested for about a week and a half. He never ran a fever or developed a cough, though...thankfully! He hated the saline and nasal aspirator!

...is still the sweetest, most handsome little boy ever!
