Eight Months Old!

At 8 months old, Caleb...

...weighs 19 lbs 4 oz! (he weighed 16 lb 13 oz just one month ago) and is 27 inches long. He is now almost at the 50th percentile for weight!! We cannot believe how much he's been growing. Praise the Lord for this answered prayer!

...is an inconsistent napper now. Don't know what happened, but his naps are all over the place. He used to nap for 1 1/2 - 2 hours consistently every morning and now now even his morning nap is sometimes only 30 minutes. Then, the afternoon and evening attempts haven't been much better. Sometimes he will surprise me with a 2+ hour long nap, though.

…is gradually moving up his bedtime still. We have been trying to have him in bed and asleep by 8:15-8:30pm for a few weeks now and are working to move that up a litte more even...hopefully he'll be in bed by 8pm soon...and still sleep til 7-7:30am - that is a goal for this month! (unless we have small group/Bible study - those are off-nights)

...is a GREAT night sleeper, even though his napping is hit-or-miss! He now sleeps 10-11 hours and rarely wakes up. If he does wake up, he will put himself back to sleep most of the time. I thought this was the norm for an 8-month old, but a lot of Rhett's work friends say their kids aren't sleeping through the night and they are even older, some toddlers.

...is still eating every 3-4 hours during the day, which is 5 times a day. We just started trying only 4 times a day (but drinking more at each feeding) just yesterday. As of a week ago, he is officially weaned from momma so he's a full-time bottle baby now. He is doing great with it and has not had any issues with the switch. He can even hold his own bottle now!

...is making the sound "dadadada" (this might have been a last month thing, can't remember). of course, no "mamamama" yet, oh well!

...will imitate you if you fake cough or fake laugh. It is so cute! He also does this weird thing where he grunts and kicks his legs out while stretching out his body and if you do it, he will copy you and do it too.

...had to take a 10-day course of amoxicillin for the first time b/c he got sick yet again. He did not have any reaction to the antibiotic, thankfully!

...is still not crawling yet, but he can slither on his belly and roll all over the place! He is also sitting up really well now and rarely falls over.

...loves to sit and play with his toys and plays in his playpen if momma needs to keep him contained for a while. His favorite toys right now are his red frog mirror that is part of his activity mat (it detaches from the mat), his soft red block, his musical Laugh N Learn cookie jar, and his Baby Einstein music player (aka, baby iPod)!

...still does not like to eat any green veggies. We did try a few new things this month like carrots, apples, and bananas. LIKES: butternut squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, pears, apples, prunes, oatmeal. DISLIKES: green beans, peas, zucchini squash, peaches/nectarines, bananas.

...is getting a little better with the sippy cup, but most of it still ends up saturating his shirt!

...is cutting 4 teeth at once! He's getting both of the 2 front teeth on top and bottom. Apparently, I also cut 4 teeth at once at 8 months of age so I guess he gets it from momma!

...went to his very first Astros game! Go 'stros!

...celebrated his first Easter and attended his first Dogwood Festival all in the same weekend! (he also "strolled" in his first 5K)

...is still the sweetest, most handsome little boy ever!
