A Special Gift

Many of you probably know that my Aunt Jackie made Caleb a quilt when he was born. She makes quilts for the whole family and she is very talented! Well, when she made Caleb's quilt, she put a piece of one of Josh's ACU's in it. This was before Josh passed away and it was very special at the time....but even more special and meaningful after we lost Josh.  Here are some pictures of Caleb with his quilt.  He was 8 months old - hard to remember him being this small!

Oh, and ACU stands for Army Combat Uniform.

the square of Josh's ACU's is between Caleb's legs right by his left hand (sorry, not the best pic of it)

in this picture, it's to the right of Caleb's head

Jackie also made Aubrey an extra special quilt and included a piece of Josh's ACU's in it too!  I say "extra special" because this quilt also is made with fabric chosen by and representing women (family) in Aubrey's life!  There are 9 dresses/squares on the quilt - one for Aubrey and then the rest represent me, Granny (my mom), Aunt Stephanie, Aunt Courtney and Aunt Christy (my sisters), Aunt Jackie (she is my mom's sister), NiNi (Rhett's mom), and Aunt Megan (Rhett's sister).

Aubrey is 2 1/2 months here...

she put a piece of Josh's ACU's in the sash on the dress representing my mom!

These quilts are so special to us not only because my aunt hand-made them for the kids, but because they have a little piece of Uncle Josh in them!  We will cherish them forever!!
