Our Sweet Girl is ONE!

Our sweet Aubrey is ONE!!  I'm doing this post a couple weeks late because I wanted to wait until we'd had her 1 year well-child appointment.  Well, that and because I can't seem to find the time to blog in a timely manner any more!  It's hard to believe that our little girl is a whole year old!  She has been such a sweet addition to our family!  I know I use the word "sweet" a LOT when referring to Aubrey, but she really is just the sweetest baby girl ever!   She is so sweet, in fact, that I'm pretty sure if everyone had a baby like her, they'd want at least 10 more!  She smiles and giggles so much that you just can't help but smile and giggle back.  The cuteness is just too much!  Anyway...on to some details about our ONE YEAR OLD!

*  At her 1-year well-child appointment on 8/16, she weighed 17 lbs 14 oz (10th %), was 29 1/2 inches long (50th %) and had a head circumference of 16 1/2 inches (2nd %).  Still a small little thing, but not a shorty.  People usually think she is at least 3-4 months younger than she is.

*  She's in mostly 12 month clothing now, but can still fit into some 9 month stuff.  She's like Caleb in that her tops are typically a larger size than her bottoms.  Most 12 month shorts are just too big in the waist, but she's wearing 12 month tops.  Most of her dresses are still 9 month size, but still work because I always put capri leggings on underneath...so basically she's wearing them like a tunic instead of an actual dress.  I've always done this instead of the matching bloomers because I feel like she's half naked in just the bloomers!  (and I think it's cuter anyway!).

*  She's still in size 3 diapers for both day and night.  This has nothing to do with Aubrey, but I just have to say that it is nice only having one in diapers now!

*  She still takes 2 naps a day, but can go without the first one if need be.  She definitely still needs it, though.  If she misses it because we have to be out or for whatever reason, she gets really tired by lunch time and then I have to put her down earlier than the normal 1-1:30pm nap time.  Usually, she will sleep longer if she misses the first nap.  Her normal nap schedule is 9:30/9:45am - 11/11:15am and then 1/1:30pm - 3/3:30pm.

*  She goes to bed around 7:30pm.

*  She wakes up at a time unknown to me and she is usually SO quiet in her crib.  Seriously, I have no idea when she wakes up.  We have been so lazy this summer since Caleb doesn't have MDO.  We have been sleeping in later....like until 8am!  I know that's not late to some people, but for someone with little ones...8am is LATE!  I am not complaining, though, because I am not a morning person.  I repeat.  I am not a morning person!!  (probably because I am a night owl!)  Rhett almost always gets up before us and has told me that he usually hears her awake around 7am.  I do sometimes hear her in the 6 o'clock hour, but not often.  Heck, she might wake up at 6:30am every day for all I know.  She does make some noise, but usually not until she's really ready for someone to come get her.  She turns on her mobile (I know this b/c we have a video monitor and the mobile is usually on when I check the monitor) and just chills....while sucking her thumb, of course.  I think she rolls around a bit, kicks the railing, watches her mobile, sucks her thumb.....and sometimes I think she goes back to sleep even.  I say this b/c at times when Rhett has told me she was awake at 7am, I will find her asleep at 8am.  So anyway, all that to say that I have no idea when she wakes up and she is the best baby ever for letting me sleep until 8am without crying her head off!  Caleb sleeps until 8 or 8:30am, so this all works out well for me, LOL.  Thankfully, she is content to just relax in her crib until her lazy mom and brother are ready to get up and face the day!  :-)

*  We are still doing formula in bottles 3 to 4 times a day (3-4 oz each time).  We're working on the sippy/straw cup but she is not taking to it.  I even try an open cup.  She will drink sips from a cup but not really enough to where we can drop the bottles/formula just yet.  I want her to stay hydrated so we will continue with the bottles for a bit longer.  Jodi (the NP at our pedi office) said that a bottle until 15 months is ok, so we're still working on it but I'm trying not to stress about it!  She said to start doing half/half formula and whole milk but I keep forgetting to do that....need to start that.  Oh, and we have discovered that she will now only take a bottle from me....not even from Rhett anymore!

*  She is still just army crawling, but she has definitely gotten faster at it.  Since she doesn't even try to get on all fours and she doesn't go from floor to sitting or from sitting to the floor, we are supposed to take her back to the doctor on 9/11 for a complete developmental evaluation.  This will also include speech and fine motor skills evaluation.  She babbles a lot but does not really repeat/mimic sounds very much.  As for the fine motor skills, she can pick up food but needs work on her pincer grasp.  Most likely we will end up in physical therapy with her in the near future.

*  She is probably about half and half on baby food and table food now.  Some of her favorite table foods are waffles (regular, strawberry and blueberry), blueberry muffins, scrambled eggs, cheese, toast/bread, cinnamon bread, and strawberries.  Hmmm...I think that's mostly breakfast foods!  She eats so early (5pm or so) that I never have our meal ready for her to also eat.  That leaves me fixing her something different just for her so it's usually something easy that I can heat up really quick.  I need to get more creative with foods for her!  Some things we've tried that she didn't care for are peas, black beans, steamed butternut squash, and rotini noodles.

*  She got her 7th tooth on 7/27 (bottom, left lateral incisor)

*  She still LOVES books and reading.  She got so many books for her birthday and has been loving all of them!

*  She has two stuffed animals that I have sitting on the back of her crib - a Scentsy Buddy lamb and a bunny rabbit she got for Easter.  For some reason, she loves these things.  She giggles and gets so happy when she sees them.  She gives them sugars before bed every night.

*  She also likes anything small that fits just right in her hands.....like Caleb's cars and all the Little People figures.  Anything that lights up and plays music grabs her attention too.

*  She still absolutely hates it when I leave her in the nursery at church.  It breaks my heart.  Once I leave, she does ok as long as no one really messes with her.  As soon as she sees me, she starts crying again.  I guess she suddenly remembers that I left her - ha!

And sadly, I have just realized that I didn't take many pictures this month.  Some months, I do so well and take a ton of pictures.  This month was not one of them!

Trying eggs for the first time.  Eggs are her favorite now!

First taste of whole peas (instead of pureed).
She actually ate a good bit of these, but haven't gotten her to eat them again since.

Sweet, blue-eyed girl!

This isn't really all that note-worthy but I don't have many pics to choose from - ha!
She was just happy as can be, screeching with delight!

Seriously, how sad is that.  Outside of her actual birthday, I only took those four post-worthy pictures?!  Sorry, baby girl!  You know what, though...now that I think about it, I know I took some of her opening birthday presents but I don't know where those are!  I'll have to come back and post them later....and I will be sad if I can't figure out where those are!

Here are a few pics from her actual birthday.  That morning, Rhett went to church alone because we woke up to no water!  Our neighbors were having an issue with their water main and while the plumber was digging for theirs, he broke part of our water line.  He fixed it but there was not enough time for me to shower and get ready for church so I stayed home with the kids.  Rhett can shower and get ready in like 10 minutes, so he went alone.  After lunch and naps, we went to the pool and had some good old-fashioned family fun in the water.  It was a low-key day but it was great.  Besides, Aubrey's favorite place to be is with Daddy, Mama and brother so I would say that she had a pretty good first birthday!
