Hermann Park Playdate

Yesterday morning, we met our playgroup at Hermann Park to ride the train and play on the playground.  Caleb loves "choo choos" so I knew he would enjoy it (I think we're going to do a Thomas the Train party for his 2nd birthday...which I need to start thinking about).  I figured he would cry when we got off the train and I was right.  He did not want to get off!  Thankfully, his little outbursts of anger were short-lived.  He also had fun playing on the playground equipment.  Since we have a nice backyard and a slide and outdoor toys (and just because it is easier to stay rather than go), we never go to parks or playgrounds to play.  They had several different sections for various age groups at this playground, so he enjoyed the little "toddler" area but we spent most of our time at the next "level" up.  He could manage most of it with the exception of a rope ladder-type thing.  We see-sawed for the first time and he loved that (for a minute or so anyway....nothing keeps his attention for very long right now!).  And of course he managed to find a stick and once he did, he carried that around until we stopped to eat lunch and I made him drop it.  He also managed to find one of the only puddles of water around (don't even know why it was wet there) and splashed right through it.  Such a little boy!  It was a fun morning and the weather was great for playing outside - overcast and not too hot, so we didn't even sweat.  Bonus!

Despite the look on his face in some of these pictures, he did have fun.  He's not really into smiling for pictures and I'm lucky to get anything other than the back of his head these days!

AND, in my opinion, the best part of the day was when Caleb stayed awake for the entire 30 minute car ride home and then took a 3-hour nap!  I was shocked because he always falls asleep in the car at the most inconvenient times and then won't take a nap.  I shouldn't have let him sleep so late (4:45pm) because he did not want to go to bed last night, but I was tired too and took an almost 2-hour nap myself.  It was nice!
