I will actually be 25 weeks tomorrow, but here's the scoop on week 24....
Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 24 weeks, 5 days
Size of baby: just over a pound and almost a foot long, the length of an ear of corn. (according to babycenter.com)
Total Weight Gain/Loss: I've gained 15.5 lbs total as of my appointment at 23 weeks. Why am I reporting this for all to read? LOL Oh well, it is what it is!
Maternity Clothes: yep (this will not change from here on out!) Just for kicks, I tried to put on a pair of my pre-pregnancy shorts (post-Caleb...pre-Aubrey) and I could not even pull them up over my hips. I am amazed at how much wider my hips get when I'm pregnant (and amazed...not necessarily in a good way - ha!) I guess this explains some of the aches I have!
Gender: girl - Aubrey Lauren
Movement: I was waiting at the dentist office this week and she starting moving/kicking so forcefully that I could actually see her movements - love that! Her movements are still the most noticeable when I'm laying or sitting still, but they are getting stronger so I'm feeling some at other times, too. She seems to be the most active at night, just like Caleb was. Also like Caleb, when I tell Rhett she is moving and he puts his hand on my belly, she stops! He's felt her move some, but she really does stop moving most of the time he tries to feel her.
Sleep: Still having to get up to go to the bathroom several times a night, so I never really feel like I get a solid night's sleep anymore. Also, I just cannot get very comfortable at night now. I don't recall having this problem this early on with Caleb.
Symptoms: Something new that happened this week was having Braxton-Hicks contractions this past Wednesday. When I woke up, I just felt really achy (hard to explain what I mean by this). Then when I was cleaning our bathroom, my belly tightened up and just felt really weird. I drank lots of water all day because I know dehydration can cause contractions...but I really couldn't just take it easy since I have Caleb running around! It did eventually go away and it has not happened since, so that is why I'm assuming it was just BH and not a "real" contraction. And some things that haven't changed - having to pee all.the.time; some pressure/achiness, starving and having to snack more; some very mild reflux
What I miss: right now, I am mostly missing being able to sleep on my back
Cravings: still pretty much the same...strawberries, ice cream, other sweets, juice...probably why I gain so much weight! :) oh, and today I saw that Starbucks has brought back their mocha coconut frappachino and now I really want one!!!! I drank many when I was in pharmacy school and then they did away with them...so happy they are back, but I need to check the caffeine content since I'm not supposed to consume much caffeine while pregnant.
Best moment this week: seeing Aubrey's movements from "the outside"
What I am looking forward to: my 2nd Mother's Day :)
