* She weighed 14 lbs 15 oz at her weight/head check appointment on 3/20....not exactly at 8 months, but fairly close. She's still petite and in the 10th percentile. She only gained 1 pound in 6 weeks (from her 6 month appointment to the weight check 6 weeks later). Her weight gain is definitely not great, but she still seems healthy and happy. I asked about her not wanting to drink a lot of milk, and the PA who saw her said that it is not uncommon and that they do see it from time to time. I just wish she would eat more.
* Her head was checked as well and she does still have a flat spot in the middle, but Deanna (the PA) said that she doesn't think it's bad enough to send her to a specialist. She doesn't think they'd do anything about it and said they've seen much worse. Part of me wanted to ask for a referral anyway, but I am just going to trust what she said and move on. I still try to keep her off her back as much as I can, although I don't know if it will ever really round out. I feel like it's gotten better since her 6-month appointment, though. I'm hoping that once she has hair, you won't be able to notice it! She still will not sleep on her tummy...it's back or side only.
* She's in 6-9 month and some 9 month sizes, depending on the brand; still size 2 diapers during the day and size 3 at night. I tried on some shoes for her for Easter and she is still in a size 1 shoe. She has tiny feet! (size 1 is about a 3-6 month size)
* She's got her first tooth! The front, bottom, left one poked through on Saturday, March 24th!
* She is sitting up really well on her own, but if she loses her balance she will fall. She hasn't figured out how to catch herself yet. She can sit for a long time without falling, though.
* No signs of crawling yet. She doesn't even spin around on her belly yet. Seriously, where you put her is where she stays. I don't know why but she is not a mover.
* She tried several new foods this month. She has now had oatmeal, squash, sweet potatoes, green beans, peas, carrots, applesauce, prunes, bananas and pears. She was doing fine with the green beans and peas, but recently does not want to eat them. I don't know what changed her mind! I think she likes bananas the best because she will open her mouth for more before I've even got another spoonful ready! However, she can't have bananas very often (or very much of it) because it gives her some #2 difficulties!
* She loves being carried in the Baby Bjorn. Sometimes if I need to get a decent amount of stuff at the store and I have to take both kids (which I try to avoid if I can!), I will put Caleb in the buggy and carry her in the bjorn so I'll have room in the cart. She might be a little squirt, but boy does she get heavy in that thing!
* She likes holding a small object/toy in her hand and passing it back and forth...and of course, putting it straight to her mouth. She likes the little teethers we have and really anything that is small and easy to hold onto.
* Her legs are always moving...like she's running somewhere! She also twirls/rotates her little feet and hands - it is the cutest thing.
* She doesn't like being left in the nursery at church. It breaks my heart a little every time I drop her off and she cries. :-( She gets so happy to see me when I pick her up - I love that part! :-)
* She squeals and when she does it, she briefly closes her eyes and scrunches up her nose as she's letting the squeal out - it is the cutest thing! I love to squeal at her so she does it right back - ha!
* This girl loves to be on her changing table. She gets so happy there!
* Stranger anxiety is in full force! and to her, even grandparents are strangers. At this point, she really only wants to be held by me or her daddy. The only exception seems to me my little sister, Courtney. She doesn't cry when Courtney holds her but pretty much anyone else is a no-go right now!
Ok, that is all I can think of at the moment! The new tooth was probably the biggest thing this month. Other than that, she's just starting to show more personality and is just the sweetest thing! Enjoy some pics of her sweet face!
