Hide and Seek??

No, not in our house. Caleb has invented a game that is more along the lines of "hide and torment." This game involves hiding or putting the dogs' ball out of their reach and watching them go crazy over not being able to get to it! Rio is the main player in this game, but Tag will also get involved. Roux doesn't play with toys much so she doesn't care to participate (and she's the laziest). It's actually pretty funny and entertaining to watch. This game started last week when Caleb put the ball inside a tall box and Rio went nuts (whining, spinning around, and jumping) because he could see it but he could not get to it. Caleb thought this was hilarious and immediately started looking for other places to put the ball just out of their reach.

Sometimes, Rio can get reach the ball and then Caleb will chase after him and take it back...and then hide it again. If Caleb is successfull in placing the ball far enough away that Rio cannot get it, he will watch and laugh as Rio whines for the ball...and then eventually, he will get the ball and either give it to Rio or hide it somewhere else. There is also some tugging involved and Caleb thinks this is hilarious as well. Tag's main roll in this game is to occasionally steal the ball and run away with it. This makes Caleb (and Rio) mad so he (Caleb) will whine and chase after Tag to get the ball back. I guess Tag likes to keep the game going because most of the time, he will actually relinquish the ball fairly quickly and the game will continue. Oh, and sometimes I have to intervene and retrieve the ball from places that even Caleb cannot get to (like behind furniture and in the fire place).

Here are some pictures I took last week.  These are only a few of the many places Caleb has found to hide the ball.  They also play this game outside as well.  Oh, and I forgot to mention one thing....they will only play with this green ball that is actually deflated!  I tried to give them a blue one that isn't deflated and neither Caleb nor the dogs would even bother with it, LOL.  For some reason, the deflated green ball is the ball of choice!

I love it!! I especially love the food processor lid - you have a smart little boy! I can't wait till Ellie is playing games like that with our trio.
